Rainbow Splatter Nails.

When I decided to do a splatter manicure, I wasn't sure about a color scheme. Eventually I decided on a bright rainbow color scheme. At first I wasn't sure about the outcome, but after a while it really started to grow on me. 

I used a bunch of polishes for this: OPI Hot & Spicy, Orly Spark, OPI Elephantastic Pink, China Glaze Tree Hugger, China Glaze Rich & Famous, China Glaze Spontaneous, and LA Colors Static Electricity.

Chrome Ruffian Nails.

I attempted my first ruffian manicure the other day, and although it's a very simple design, it's a nice change. I thought things through a little before I started on the design, considering if there were any tricks I should try to get my lines perfect. In the end I decided to just freehand it with the polish brush, and I was happy to find it was surprisingly easy. I don't have the steadiest hands and I was still able to create nice lines without needing to touch up. 

I often see pretty ruffian nails with a foil polish on the bottom, but I decided to go ahead and use two foil polishes for an extra metallic look. The silver polish is Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and the blue is Color Club Cold Metal.

Lime Sideways Gradient Nails.

I saw a picture of a manicure where the gradient was going sideways and immediately added it to my to-do list. Gradients are becoming increasingly popular this summer, and this is an easy but fun twist. 

The colors I used for the gradient are American Apparel Neon Yellow and China Glaze In the Lime Light. Overtop the gradient I added a coat of Color Club Starry Temptress, and one rhinestone at the base of the nail as a final touch.

Pinwheel Nails.

This manicure is another fun striping tape design. The colors I used were Wet n Wild Saved by the Blue, American Apparel Office, and CND Asphalt. The finishing touch was a blue rhinestone in the center.

Born Pretty Plate M71 Review.

Today I have my last Born Pretty Store review for you! This time it is for another nail art item, the M71 plate, which comes with a stamp and scraper. 

Usually when I stamp designs on my nails I use a full nail image (like this one) so I played around with the plate a little before deciding on a manicure. All the images stamped well, and the stamp and scraper measured up to the ones I already own.

A lot of people prefer rubber scrapers or credit cards, but I always feel like I get a better scrape with a metal scraper. I'm happy to have another since mine is always a mess. The stamp is a lot different than the one I'm used to using, which is longer and double ended. But this short one is very easy to handle.

Now back to the manicure I decided on...

I didn't want to just stamp onto a solid base color, so after some consideration I started on an ocean-like gradient. I used OPI Ogre the Top Blue and OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue, an then I added a layer of Sinful Colors Hottie. After than I added a very thin coat of Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune. Then I decided to try something new out, and added a few flakes of chunky teal glitter from Julep. After letting all of that dry I stamped the dolphin image from the M71 plate in Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. The final touch was one more thin coat of Teal of Fortune.

Born Pretty Moustache Ring Review.

Born Pretty Plate M64 Review.

A few weeks ago Born Pretty Store, a website with awesome nail art supplies offered to send me a few things to review on my blog. They sent me three things to talk about, and accordingly I've done three manicures to share with you. I'll be doing separate posts on each of the items over the next few days.

The first review is on a nail stamping plate I was sent. When I was asked what sort of item I would be most interested in reviewing, this was the one thing I specified. There were lots of great designs I already had brewing in my mind.

This plate is a dupe for a Konad plate, and I was happy to find that it really measured up to the Konad plates I own! The designs transferred perfectly, and the full nail images were the same size.

And here is the manicure I created, which was inspired by this design I had remembered seeing a few months ago.

The base color is OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender and I stamped with Sally Hansen Lively Lilac. The final touch were the dots in Color Club Foil Me Once.
